Elevate Your Mediation Game: Join the Family Dispute Resolution’s Estates & Beyond Program

As legal professionals, we are all too familiar with the complexities and sensitivities surrounding family dynamics in all areas of practice, especially in estate litigation. Fortunately, the Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Estates & Beyond Program offers an opportunity to enhance your practice with innovative strategies and perspectives for effective dispute resolution. This two-day program is uniquely designed to bring a family-centric approach to wills and estate disputes, where all too often, mediation unfolds much like civil litigation with an emphasis on money over relationships.

Unfortunately, mediators who directly work with families increasingly see these types of disputes unfold. This program can be an invaluable opportunity to deepen your understanding of estate law while learning how to best support clients facing similar conflicts within their families.

The FDR Estates & Beyond Program highlights the importance of impartiality, screening, prevention, confidentiality and self-determination within estate related matters. It aims to help you understand the impact of aging, family dynamics, grief, loss and capacity on financial and personal decision making, estate planning and dispute resolution. It goes beyond the surface and explores the need for deeper, more flexible models that move dispute participants from legal positions to interests with a focus on resolution, not settlement.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn directly from industry leaders, such as Julie Gill and Hull and Hull LLP’s very own Nick Esterbauer. Prior to the two-day program, Nick will lead an optional special training program for non-legal professionals, those who work in a different legal field, and/or those who may want a refresher covering estate, elder and trust law. Nick will explore the general characteristics of estate law and explain the intersection of family and estate law.
